RCSI boasts some 70 clubs and societies - a notable number for a college of its size. Several of the societies were set up to support a particular cause, such as St Vincent de Paul, UNICEF and Friends of Medecins Sans Frontieres - to name but a few. Whilst others use their events, skills and talents to fundraise for a host of other worthy causes. Benefitting charities are located both at home and abroad and the common goal of all is to raise funds to improve the lives of people affected by poverty, illness, disease and war.

The total sum raised by students for this academic year is €41,000 with more than a dozen charities benefitting including, Irish Red Cross, Pieta House, the Pharmacy Benevolent Fund, the Irish Cancer Society, Breast Cancer Ireland, St Vincent De Paul, Islamic Relief, Aid Africa and Unicef.
Margie Morgan, Societies Co-ordinator thanked all the students involved for their tireless commitment to raising funds for charities. She added ‘In the current economic climate raising funds for charity is difficult. There are so many organisations and indeed individuals involved in the quest to raise money for charity. In addition to their academic commitments, our students willingly sacrifice time and energy to improve the lives of others. I am proud to work alongside them in their interesting and enlightening endeavours.
