RCSI students win Jack Flanagan medal

A team of RCSI students has won the Jack Flanagan Medal on Wednesday 18th September


The winning RCSI team is pictured (l-r) Professor David Williams, Geriatric and Stroke Medicine, RCSI & Beaumont Hospital; Medical Students: Eoin Kelleher, Elizabeth Ahern-Flynn, Harriet Ryan, Ali Jafar; Dr. Stuart Lee (team tutor), Clinical Lecturer in Geriatric Medicine, RCSI & Beaumont Hospital.

The Jack Flanagan Medal in Gerontology competition pays trubute to Irelands eminent geriatrician, Dr. Jack Flanagan, who was one of the first doctors in Ireland to specialise in contemporary geriatric medicine. Tonight (19th Sept 2013), before an audience of geriatric consultants, geriatricians, peers, and members of Dr. Flanagans family, the RCSI team was delcared winner of the prestigious medals and bursary. The team faced strong competition from Trinity College, University College Dublin, University of Limerick, National University of Ireland Galway and University College Cork.
