Over the last six years Professor Ciaran OBoyle & Dermot OFlynn from the Institute of leadership have trained 257 consultant surgeons to be clinical trainers in ten COSECSA countries. Those countries include Rwanda , Malawi, Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique.
17 Train the Trainer courses have been run and 2 Master Train the Trainer Programmes.
Dermot OFlynn stated that having now trained up 28 Master Trainers we are delighted to hand over the Train the Trainer Course to this group who will carry on our work. This will allow the Institute of Leadership to focus on the development of a Clinical Leadership Programme for Surgeons in Africa which we hope to launch in 2016.
