RCSI hosts Higher Degree Conferring Ceremony

RCSI (Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland)s 2017 June Conferring ceremonies will come to a conclusion at midday today with 42 candidates graduating with Higher Degrees at a conferring ceremony which will take place in the College Hall of 123 St. Stephens Green.

From the School of Postgraduate Studies, there are three Master of Science (MSc) by research candidates, four Doctor of Medicine (MD) graduates, 14 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) graduates and five Master of Surgery (MCh) graduates. The candidates have carried out cutting-edge studies in research areas including oncology; cardiovascular; perinatal research; drug development and health services research.

Their research will contribute to our understanding of a range of diseases including heart disease, cystic fibrosis, asthma, breast cancer and brain tumours.

From the School of Pharmacy, 15 candidates will be conferred with degrees of Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) and one candidate will be awarded with a degree of MSc in Industrial Pharmaceutical Science.

Professor Cathal Kelly, CEO/Registrar, RCSI said, "I would like to congratulate every one of the 42 graduates who will get their postgraduate higher degrees today. Their work and dedication contributes so much to RCSI being a centre of excellence in world-class research and innovation. I wish them all the best in their future careers, whether that be in scientific, research or pharmacy practice."
